I’m gona try keep this post up-to-date and make a link to it on the forum or something, but here is a list of the basic addons you might want to use whilst playing WoW to getyou through your day to day business on it. Enjoy!
Dps Meter, Healing Meter, Everything Meter. It can even be used to show who is pulling their weight in a group based on GearScore if you have the GearScore addon installed which is pretty neat. Lot’s of customizability for colours and textures to be used on it.
Threat meter, nuff said really. Once again though has good options for colours and styles etc to make it fit in with your UI if you’re that bothered about it and don’t want it to look like a load of parchment all over your screen.
Shows you the loot tables for every instance in game, is kept up to date all the time and you can compare your items with them and try them on. It’s another must have really…
Boss encounters thingy, gives you instructions, timers, warnings, marks targets and more. It’s a damn handy addon, don’t give a shit what people say “Uhh well I can do the fight without it” in Azjol Nerub or something, gtfo plix. Anyway….
Very good addon, adds another page to your Quest Log which tell you some additional information about a quest and then if you skip along pages it will show you Wowhead comments for that quest which give you co-ords and advice etc.
Good for using the co-ords as waypoints that are given from Lightheaded
Routes + Gathermate2 + Gatherer + Gathermate2_data:
Extremely handy for if you are doing any form of gathering profession, they will tell you where to find nodes for mining and herbalism etc, and then you can make a route and optimize it to follow and gather from that.
Mik’s Scrolling Battle Text:
Or parrot, but, personally after using both I found Mik’s to be much better for a few reasons:
- Customizability of positions, colours, warning, what is and isn’t shown is just insane
- Noise warnings for low health and mana… wooo
- Tells you when procs or important moves are ready like Rime procs on a DK or Missile Barrage on a mage etc
Parrot is good but I found it to be harder to change things with, also, Mik’s has more positions than parrot and shows extra information Parrot doesn’t and in better places usually.
Addon Control Panel:
One of the best ideas evar, lets you enable and disable addons without having to relog, you just have to reload your UI, you can also load some addons on demand without reloading which is handy sometimes.
Best cast bar mod I’ve seen, lots of options once again for colours position, size everything really. Gives you some extra info like buff timers and things so you know when to re apply your debuffs to a target or buffs to another etc.
This is a neat addon to display number timers on things like moves and buff timers on targets etc. Lot’s of customizablity for size of the text at different times and phases in cooldowns etc.
All bags in one, nice interface and very easy to use, also does the same with your bank (not gbank though).
Mapster + Cromulent:
If you ever had Cartographer then this is pretty much the modern replacement for it, Mapster lets you resize the map etc and cromulent shows the dungeons in the zones, level requirement for a zone and the instance level requirements etc.
Power Auras Classic:
A really handy addon which lets you show textures on screen that can animate etc or play sounds when a buff is active or ready etc, there is a LOT you can do with it.
That’s pretty much all I can think of for now, so, if you can think of anything else you might need or want then just say here and I’ll try think of an addon to do it D=
Tells your party members when you interrupt stuff, or fail to do so. There’s no config except you can manually set a variable in the Lua file to tell the addon where to output the interrupt message.
By default it will output to party chat.
